Foals - Spanish Sahara

so i have been hanging out for anything new from foals for aaggeesss.. finally the wait is over and im glad/relieved to say that it was worth it..

although not as hard-hitting or "mathy" as much of their other work, 'spanish sahara' is an intensely powerful, self-reflective piece which starts off in a painstakingly soft manner but builds to quite an expansive and euphoric conclusion.. satisfying..

the video itself is a little surreal with the heavily bearded yannis philippakis pulling animal carcasses from the water and flamingly crucifying them.. but i have to say that that icy wasteland sure is beautiful..

the dynamically ethereal yet intensely grounded sounds of foals really are a pleasure to hear again.. cant wait for the album ('total life forever' will be released in early may)

Foals - Spanish Sahara

big thanks to nat from the excellent burnt waffles for the heads up on this one.. if you havent checked it out, head on over there later tonight to hear the mount kimbie mix of 'spanish sahara': tripped out, burial-esque lite-dubstep that really complements the original..
