Andrés, Koze & MAM: Welcome Back

Monday, 13 August 2012

Hello! It's been a little while since my last post. And by "little" while, I actually mean "long" while. I'd like to welcome myself back into the fold.
It has been a rather productive month and a bit for me musically though, and I definitely have heaps to share.
While I get my affairs in order though, lets start with 3 tracks that particularly tickled my fancy during the break.

This fun little number by Detroit's own Andrés was a definite ear catcher during my short Berlin visit... Such an ear catcher in fact, that plaudits like "song of the Summer" were bandied about whenever it graced the airwaves. The enthusiastic comments and reviews that are piling up on Discogs and Resident Advisor certainly say a lot as well.
Punchy, orchestral & disco tinged deep house that almost definitely lives up to its hype. What do you think?

Andrés - New For U

You probably need to add this to your collection. Pick up a copy here.

MAM's Crushed Ice represents yet another patented Blouse mixtape theft.. This time around the mixtape is Wolf + Lamb's 3 hour "Live At Modern Love Affair" odyssey.. A super mix that was a fine companion for me on the beaches of Greece. Of course, many fine tracks are featured but "Crushed Ice" was a definite stand out.
Miami sunset guitars twanging relentlessly over a huge bassline and teasingly light synths. This could very well be Summery house at its finest.. A d-floor monster, but one retains all the style and swank these Wolf + Lamb guys are so well known for.

MAM - Crushed Ice

Grab MAM's "Modern Heat EP" here.. A top notch release if you ask me.

And finally - here is a blast from 2009 via the irrepressible DJ Koze.. I somehow missed this gem back in the day. Pretty disappointed that my life ended up like that, but I suppose that you gotta roll with the cards you are dealt - and my life path was to encounter this track 3 years after it was made. Have you come across this track before?
If you haven't, check it out ASAP. Although the druggy, slow drive of the bass and those delicate keys would lead you to believe this slowburner is ideal only for home use, I have suspicions that it would do rather nicely in a clubbier environment.

WhoMadeWho - Keep My In My Plane (DJ Koze Hudson River Dub)

Revisit some great old WhoMadeWho remixes.. It will definitely be worth your while. You may do so here.
More on WhoMadeWho soon..
