Futures

Monday, 6 February 2012

Sunday.. Is there a day better suited to the enjoyment of slow burning Cascine magic?

We received a little slice of aforementioned magic a few weeks ago, and it came in the shape of new Cascine signing RxGibbs, and his (soon to be released) EP Futures.

If you know Cascine, you should know what to expect here.. Gorgeous, lush and intricate synth soundscapes with a foot edging toward the dancefloor.
What I particularly like in RxGibb's work is the languid - almost ambient pacing of his synth work. Such a nice contrast to the enthusiasm in the beating drums. Feels like hammock time in party town. Super nice.

The title track, Futures is a perfect representation of this hammocky, tropical vibe.. Layered sighs and chants, fluttering percussion and well worked ambience:

Rx Gibbs - Futures

RxGibbs' Futures EP will be released digitally on Feb 21. Keep your eyes on the Cascine site for more info.

It is also well worth your time to visit Cascine's soundcloud on the regular to keep tabs on new releases and remixes that are often available for (free) download..

In other news, I can't believe that I missed this gem from mid last year..
M83 remixing Depeche Mode.. Could it get any better?
Gonzales rarely disappoints on remix duties and when given this calibre of ammunition, it would be a miracle for him to be anything but on point. Love Gahan's vocals with those synths, and love the last minute and a half when the guitars from the original are layered in for  extra oomf.

Depeche Mode - Suffer Well (M83 Remix)

You can find this on Depeche Mode's Remixes 2 81-11 compilation from last year. Grab it here.
