nothing wrong

Tuesday, 28 April 2009

to all of you out there still nursing sore heads, or are anticipating having a bit of a tough/sad day tomorrow, i feel your pain. and believe me, the only possible way you will survive days like these is with the help of your favourite cuddly comedown-core tracks.
i know each persons comedown core experience will be different-different, but for me, spirit catcher are one of those groups that capture the vibe perfectly.
i was first introduced to them way back in the olden days, when i bought this satoshi tomiie remix on vinyl.. this was back in the days when my love for generic ministry of sound house was strong. i couldnt work out why there was a need for an intro this long and drawn out but really dug the funk and sheer density of the rest of the track.

Satoshi Tomiie - Glow (Spirit Catcher Remix)

skip forward a few years and its this element of drawn-outness that i am positively basking in.. every melody and detail seems so perfectly and painstakingly stretched; nothing is rushed. take 'space crash' from nightvision for example. the way it meanders from peak to peak is total and utter sex:

Spirit Catcher - Space Crash

they also collab'ed with tech-disco glitterarti compuphonic last year.. to be perfectly honest, they make a really good team. the lushed out spiritcatcher synths may dominate the track, but the rolling compuphonic tech provides the track with nice backbone.

Spirit Catcher & Compuphonic - Dream Machine

so anyway, i have shelved spirit catcher amongst the luminaries of comedown core..
on their myspace the little subtitle thing reads: "Chocolates….beer….and Spirit Catcher !!!" bravo sirs.. pretty much sums up my ideal comedown core experiences.
