based on my evidence, i was the most hungover person in sydney yesterday.
the entire day would have been a disaster had it not been for this piece of brilliance from jorge elbrecht (of violens) and caroline polachek (of chairlift). together, they have created a project called 'sgin' in which they synch the words of an original composition to the video of another track. a fairly outrageous concept in my books.
this first sgin piece redubs 'never let you go' by justin bieber superbly and with great humour. it feels like 'lil bieber' has only been around for a couple of months, but somehow in that time polachek and elbrecht have managed to not only compose an amazingly velvety, sensual song, but also to synch it (almost) perfectly to the little guy's lips. pure genius.

i have to admit that i really got a kick out of seeing the words "you stupid slut" coming out this teen heart-throbs mouth.. and i also got a kick from the whooshing percussion/snare on every forth beat of the chorus - if anyone knows how such a sound is made on a real life drum kit, i would be pleased to find out.
