Killer
Sunday April 12
Metro Theatre

If i could muster the energy i would make this an extended post with all the bells and whistles illustrating how brilliant Killer was last night. But i have all the pep of prozac. My easter long weekend has been massive.

The sold-out show featured Sinden, Trentemoller and Fake Blood. It also featured more pairs of skinny jeans than China could produce in a minute (nb. a shitload).

After an entertaining set from Sydney's Kato, Sinden hit the main stage for a hard mix. His BPM's were defs higher than any other DJ on the night and was responsible for the most de-shirting in the crowd. Fucking insane. I had no idea American Apparel made boy bras.

Trentemoller gets the Velvet Blouse from me - he was the standout. He had a smaller room and less lighting than his counterparts in the main auditorium but made up for this with charisma and good ol' fashion screaming at the crowd. He fingered the decks like a pianist and set an epic mood throughout the small auditorium. The room was very Euro (esp. with the steel frame balcony upstairs) and with hints of Trentemoller's minimal background seeping through it was unlike anything else that night. He deserves every handshake and groupie that comes his way.

Who is Fake Blood? That's what most people say about him and, like Daft Punk, he remains an enigma. I was expecting a Spartan built, well-dressed demon to impale Sinden before engulfing the lock-jawed crowd in an electro inferno. But he casually approached the decks in a flannel shirt and army cap looking about 40. Not to deny the show's headliner wasn't radtastic though. He cut sic for about 90 minutes with his colourful and easily absorbed tracklist. The place erupted when Mars dropped.

Ok, i'm off for a massage and sushi. Happy Easter guys.

ok.. everyone can get their relief on- my mind is now working properly again. PHEW. wow what a fun V fest it was.. i liked it cos it kind of seemed a bit chillaxed. i won't bore those of you that werent there with the details but will say that queens of the stone age, cut copy and the presets rocked out. as did duran duran.
kudos to the presets as well- after being asked to finish up they fooled the stage manager by saying they would play one more and then actually played 3 songs one after the other. good on you lads.
i wonder if the presets have ever considered getting a cheerleading team/harem together and calling them the presettes? mwahaha. LAME.
As a final bit of V reflection- does anyone else think that cut copy and the presets have recently seemed less into it compared to never ever land? i do.

after V fest we had a nice little party. and this party made me realise the awesomeness of mixes.. getting up to constantly change tracks is ANNOYING.. im not saying that i hadn't realised this before, but the 2 metre walk to the laptop was frustrating.. and my lack of desire to make the trek made me a nothing/a myth. apparently. so- if you find yourself in a similar situation please put these awesome new mixes on.. am enjoying my recent lack of activity in regards to choice of music.. ahhhhh

Excuse Me - April 08 Promo

Magic Happens Modular Mix

also- check out Ash le Rouge and Will Hawthorn's new mix at Disco Delicious- it is.. uber good and chillaxed.

*i realised after i listened to the Verbena Selected mix the other day that most of it wasn't properly beatmatched.. i reckon that probably the worst thing to hear whilst trying to relax is a double beat. sorry for that.. not sure why someone would send a dj mix that isnt put together properly*

as a bit of a postscript.. you cant make ze mix without ze trax.. so... here are some tracks..

these two songs just got sent into us by Yakushi.. he is a young buck from Portugal that is just starting out in this game and needs some love.. when i first heard heard his sound i sort of thought that it reminded me of a trashier bagraiders/knightlife or a slightly more accessible bloody beetroots.. pretty rad.

Yakushi - Frank Miller

Yakushi - xDesire

Check out his myspace

also check out these two mad remixes of "beeper" by sinden and the count. tough goodness:

Sinden and the Count - Beeper (A-Trak Remix)

Sinden and the Count - Beeper (Detboi Remix)

giddy up.

Holy crap who would have known that work could be so busy this early in the year.. barely a chance for me to listen to music at all..
So jealous of Rach going to good vibes in MELBOURNE.. damn her.. im sure well hear good things from her soon..

Have heard plenty of vibes-related reviews around the campfire.. and i think most have been good. apparently the rapture were fun, as was a-trak.
i think though that the people that went there for the strong hip hop line up were more impressed than the people there for the dancey stuff. just putting it out there.

So while all this craziness was going on i was down in Wollongong chillaxing at a mates 21st. Was a fun party that had me super keen to go and boogie down to tracks like this one:

Shiloh - Vice (Luke Chable Mix)

The keyboards at the end are pretty awesome if you ask me.

also another oldie but still a goldie

Sinden - Everybody Rocking

Heck yea= olden goldens are the way to go.

Sorry really quick post today but whoa whoa it is bus-a
