Since we last eavesdropped on SebastiAn he has released another track to help us remember the blog house era and cry.

The Embody EP was released a few days ago and sounds like Justice did in 2007.

But don't hold that against him, because they have always sounded similar. You could ask whether Justice influenced him, or if it was the other way around.

Here's the answer: Go fuck yourself.

SebastiAn - Embody

This track has hallmark SebastiAn hip-hop blips with the addition of distorted R&B vocal samples.

They are steady throughout the track, with a keyboard climax ensuing just before the 2m30s mark.

No joke, today I asked someone: "If you could rate 'Embody' between one and 10 with only the number 10, what would you rate it?"

"I'll kick you in the nuts is what I'd rate it," they said.

The EP comes with remixes from DJ Premier and Kavinsky.

Order you copy here.

So i'm eating lukewarm Pad Thai and drinking Stella Artois, with some Breakbot looping on my decrepit hand-me-down stereo.

Bbot caught my attention with his creamy 'Let There Be Light' remix, then his signing to le Ed Bangeur records. Getting signed would be pretty difficult. Ed Recs is a boutique label with such a small crew of producers/groupies...

I gave his Baby I'm Yours EP a listen and, i'll admit, i'm not a big fan of funk/breakbeat. But this was better than expected.

BreakBot - Baby I'm Yours (LaFunkMob Remix) (removed by request)

The LaFunkMob remix is tight. Throw some underwater synths in and the breaks/any genre become my ideal cup of [insert warm beverage here]. The jabbing kick drum and percussion make this a solid party cut, or a great soundtrack for mirror dancing [insert hair brush here]. Loving the whiny Irfane vocals.

BreakBot - Make You Mine (removed by request)

I was surprised at how catchy this b-side is. Smooth piano riffs; check. Daft Punkish vocoder; check. Sex; check.

i have to admit that i find kavinsky to be one of the most underwhelming artists going around.. i cant seem to work out where all of his credibility and hype came from.. his cartoon avatar? his jacket?
he sure rode that 80s wave pretty well, but when that died off where did he find himself? with a black macbook full of halfhearted testarossa overdrive revamps and tired pop?
his yet to be released single 'nightcall' is a sad case of remixes (in this case by breakbot and jackson) bettering the originals..
take the jackson remix of 'pacific coast highway' for example.. the original was almost ok - the dramatic, surging melody is quite compelling; but the douchey overbaked 80s synths and irritating voiceover band together to ruin it..
jacksons version swaps out the 80s vibe with some powerful, sebastian-esque synths and takes a lot of emphasis off the vocal.. the result is a certified ed-banger-banger straight from the bloghaus "golden years".. awesome nostalgia:

Kavinsky - Pacific Coast Highway (Jackson Remix)

one person that is far from underwhelming is lifelike.. ive had a bit of time away from french/filter house recently, but have slowly been getting back into it. getting acquainted with the tracks that lifelike has produced in my absence has been an absolute pleasure..
im sure that everyone under the sun has heard this vitalic mix he stroked out a while ago, but i sure hadn't- and i have to say that im pretty pretty impressed.. somehow he manages to disguise a hands-in-the-air house bangar by wrapping it around some tight, groove-laden french house.. the drop at 2:18 makes me remember why i liked going to music festivals. seriously good.

Vitalic - Second Lives (Lifelike Remix)

these next two classic cuts are way too smooth to pass up.. they may be the perfect tracks to help ease you into another friday.
i am seriously in love with the percussive sound of liquid liquid: "so simple, yet so perfect". 'cavern' is a solid, grandmaster flash inspiring, hypnotically bass-driven affair complete with reverb laden vocals and bongos..

Liquid Liquid - Cavern

the dub mix of lola by some fellow named jon is a slow burner that is heavy on groove and snare. if this could be any more up my alley right now id have to go and see a doctor.. when the slap bass kicks in over the top of vibes half way through, my knees get a little shaky..

Lola - Wax The Van (Jon's Dub Mix)

speaking of slow burners, here is the new(ish) track from young sydney scenesters aeons.. an expansive, gritty number with layers of incredible vocal harmonies and understated melodies..

Aeons - In Great Wonder

i firmly think that aeons are one of the most exciting young electronic groups to come out of sydney in recent times.. and if recent shows at parklife, sosueme, mum and soho are anything to go by, these guys will only get bigger in '10..
get on board the good ship aeon and check out their jjj unearthed page here.. if you havent heard 'beyond the satellites' before, you should go listen to it asap..

Busy P: Bonjour Sebastian, come in and sit down. What’s going on in electroland? Ça va? Do you have le new track ready?

SebastiAn: (lights cigarette) Oui Pedro. I finished it. But i had no idea making an LP was so feuking hard.

BP: Aw-haw-haw-haw monsieur, that’s right! Making an album is harder than it looks (racks a line off a Kitsune Maison 8 CD case). If you want to contribute to zis feuking label – then albums need to appear you silly motheurfuckeur!

S: Well, I thought about how to make it big like Gaspard and Xavier. It’s like they didn’t actually `reinvent’ house, they just found what was already populeur and used it in creative ways.

P: Excuse moi. I have no feuking idea what you mean. You feuking bassterd.

S: I mean, is making an artistic impact about being the most populeur produceur, or the most innovative?

P: Sacre bleu! Have I taught you neuthing? It’s about how much pussy you get.

S: (lights another cigarette before finishing the first one) Come on Pedro. I’ve been thinking about zis for two years now. Pitchfeurk keeps asking me about new material. I need to release this album and it has to be incredible.

P: Relax mon ami. Look at Guy-Manuel and Thomas. I banged zis American geurl in ’05 and told them her snatch looked like a glowing pyramid. Look what they did with that idea, you feukwit.

S: Well you told moi to take a different direction from the 'Cheep and Cheerful' and 'Golden Skans' remixes. You said le public are getting tired of le four minute banger.

P: Exactly Sebby. You need to do something that’s never been done before. If you’re not going to reinvent electronic music, which you probably won’t, then use this feuking album like a billboard for how big your balls are!

S: Honestly Pedro, I think I’ve done it.

P: So you’re going to show moi this track?

S: O-oui. Here it is (connects his iPhone to Busy P’s amplifier).

The cover of Mr. Oizo’s new album Lambs Anger is so clever it’s practically better than the album. It’s an appropriation of a scene from the 1929 surrealist film Un Chien Andalou, written by Salvador Dalí and Luis Buñuel. In the bit where actress Simone Mareuil has her eyeball sliced open by a razor, Oizo has replaced her with his classic little euro-muppet: Flat Eric. You may remember him from the song Flat Beat, which forever linked fluffy toys to drug abuse when it landed in ’99. I think for Eric the party never ended.

Here is a remix of the album's single Positif:

Mr. Oizo - Positif (Pink Punk Remix)

Oizo has a knack for mashing retarded sounds. The LP has random beeps, blips and buzzes arranged with total contempt for symmetry. It’s like he rummaged through the Gimp’s record collection and molested some decks, before spooning them for an hour. Then, somehow, he ended up with this album.

Mr. Oizo - Positif (The Exo What The Fuuuck Remix)

As a result it’s likely that anyone who listens to Oizo for the first time probably won’t like him. But once you find a taste for his sound - like how most women I know (and some homosexual men) somehow find a taste for vegemite - you’ll be bouncing off the walls to this record.

Mr. Oizo plays Future Music this Saturday.

it seems as if blouse has dropped off the dancey wagon in the last few weeks.. big apologies to all y'all..
to get back up in it, here are a few bangin tracks that have been doing the rounds in the blouse offices.

this is the new track from sebastiAn.. its really more of the same from everyones favourite explosions expert, with the main point of difference coming from the menacing film-noir type feeling that comes from baz's good use of brass, horns and what not..

sebastiAn - Momy

like electrorash, im very surprised that Alex Metric hasn't taken off in a massive way.. his remixes and tracks are always worth waiting for with their classic electro/rock/house vibe (haha) and amazing production qualities.. THIS GUY SHOULD BE A STAR! anyways here is his latest offering that is absolutely blowing people away in the office.. the bassline in this track is the only one i want to hear at sunset at the next festival i find myself at.. the zdarlight of '08/09??

Alex Metric - Deadly on a Mission (Dub Mix)

last up is 'Girls Sing' by the ever impressive Like Woah.. this is also a very classic sounding track with a very strong 90's house thing going down.. the pianos are soo awesome
Hyperbole posted this song a while back but for some reason i could only download the first 20 secs or so of it..

Like Woah - Girls Sing

for some reason this takes me back to my lot days...... is that good or bad?

ok. look.

we ALL know kanye is a tool pot. but recent reports report that he is in fact a good performer. and it has been known for him to make good beats.

normally i dont feel any need to listen to his music at all but CHECK OUT HIS NEW VIDEO. DAMN GIRL. DAMN SON.

Kanye West - Good Life

They really have done some good works here. mayhaps he WILL actually win the MTV music video award this year (even if pamela wasn't in the clip).

Amazing any which ways - but i think that his name shall now officially be amended to include 'Ed Banger'.

KANYE 'ED BANGER' WEST.

or if the man himself doesn't enjoy that intermediate moniker then perhaps "So Me' (Ed Banger designer) would be a more fitting middle name.

KANYE 'SO ME' WEST. hmmm has a nice rrrrrrriing to it.

apologies for my use of caps- it is fri afternoon and iam somewhat excited.

before i sign off, check out this piece of motion graphic wizardry i used to enjoy in my uni days. a bit different but what the hey.

Have a nice evening and weekend chappies and chappettes- hope to see y'all at bamboozled/alive on the other side.
