it certainly was not for me. having your laptop stolen is neither fun nor good. im sure there are one or two people out there that would say 'yes it was amazing for me'. and to those people i say 'you are shit'.

amongst the millions of people worldwide that dont care about my laptop getting stolen are xinobi and moulinex. although they may be nice people, i think that they would be way too distracted by their burgeoning success. they are defs two of the only blog stars that i get excited about. to see this new slice of moulinex and xinobi magic in my inbox when i got kates puter was very nice indeed.

to be fair, this slice was actually a remix done by esto which won a competition put on by moulinex and xinobi's label discotexas. i can totally see why as well- turning moulinex and xinobi's brooding and hard hitting electro sounds into an upbeat, joyful electro disco number was no mean feat.

Moulinex & Xinobi - Discotexas Theme (Esto! Remix)

hooray for esto!
hooray for anoraak- cant wait to see you in two weeks.. they also have put their glittering touch to this duo- totally glamifying what was already quite glam for an electro track.. i swear they are all geniuses. the throbbingly ascending arpeggio is breathtaking. (haha)

Xinobi - Day Off (Anoraak Remix)

good news is that we have just recieved some new tracks in the buffet libre rewind project. i dont know if you know/remember but rewind is a project that the buffy lib guys have been working on for a while in which a bunch of artists/producers pick their fave oldskoooool songs and remix/cover it.. really good idea yeah?
there have been a few other tracks leaked out in recent times which have all been awesome in a really chilled or funky way but this recent batch seems to have picked up the pace a bit..

Def Leppard - Photograph (Heartache Remix)

Pineapples - Come On Closer (Moulinex Remix)

Dragonette - Sharp Dressed Man (ZZ Top Cover)

Roger Troutman - Do It (Xinobi Remix)

Madonna - Get Into The Groove (Sidechains Remix)

out of these, my favie faves are the dragonette cover of ZZ Top which i reckon they really make their own, and the heartache/def leppard remix which i cant wait to play out next time i play out.. (everyone in sydney and the world come to oxford art factory on the 16th...)
so yea.. good on buffet libre- really really cant wait to hear the rest of the songs and the mix..

let me tell you that freelance design is not what it has cracked up to be... staying up in the office til after 1am two nights this week isn't quite my idea of the best time ever.

having said that, last night was an interesting experience (for me anyway)....
so many emotions (marked with a *), so little time..
struggling to finish overdue work *stress, appreciating the delightfully fabulous view from my new desk *happiness, putting up with (then joining) the bosses as they proceeded to get smashed on the couch behind me *frustration and bliss.. and finally... enjoying the oh so funky beats of MIA *contentment

(not sure if the *'s are indeed all emotions but who does these days??)

ANYWAY- point of story- i now have a sore sore head. hmmm its friday i feel like something upbeat but nothing that will blow my head off.... im really starting to get the fuck over the nu-rave sound... lets get some funk back into music- like that alex romano song. good times.

VHS or BETA - Night on Fire

The Mystery Jets - You Can't Fool Me Dennis (Justice Mix)

The Mystery Jets - There Was a Boy Who Ran Away (Riton Re-Rub)

The Mystery Jets - Flakes

And finally just because its friday and we all must prepare to dance

Xinobi - BMX (Moulinex Mix)- Moulinex is a genius check him out on hypem

Nelsen Grover - Running

Please have fun weekends- especially if your going to future music in sydney- please see who made who if you go. i would like to vicariously see them through you.

bonsoir

PS for everyone that came to scary canary for bamboozled- thank you we had such fun! new venue next time though.. more on the beaten track
