ok so what if 'the man' took down duncan's last post.. so what.
we have some nice new dcup tracks to fill the hole anyway. and hasnt he been a busy lad: knocking out 2 (two) sparkling new remixes for 2 (two) new remix competitions.

his remix for the jazzanova competition was apparently finished in a day. i really find that hard to believe though cos this is perhaps be one of his more accomplished efforts.
the chilled & slow pianoroom vibe that this track embraces is the perfect medium through which duncan is able display his sass and disco-savvy. his newly adopted strings and warbling guitar sit so nicely amongst the heavily compelling snares and soulful vocals. perfect accompaniment for that friday afternoon mojito

Jazzanova feat Ben Westbeech - I Can See (DCup Remix)

this sidechains mix for the sidechains competition is much more upbeat and d-floor friendly but still retains all of that patented class and disconess.. while i liked the original version, i think that dcups remix is much more colourful and seems to have much more depth with its judicious use of strings and shimmering synths. sidechains original might have suited a club, but i think that dcup's version would suit a club with wavy white curtains on a balcony overlooking the mediterranean. (i know which club i would rather be at.)

Sidechains - Dance While You Can (DCup Remix)

take that 'man'.

sidechains was one of the first people to send music through to blouse, so he kind of has a special place in our hearts.. awww

since sending us through those beats all those moons ago, sidechains has gone from strength to strength, with songs being featured on compilations by buffetlibre and sweat it out, as well as achieving a blog reputation to rival russ chimes or even grum..

its been a little while since we've heard from him, so to bring us up to date, sidechains has sent through a bunch of new and recent remixes that are quite frankly very impressive..

Heads We Dance - The Human Touch (Sidechains Remix)

Louis La Roché - Peach (Sidechains Remix)

Farley Jackmaster Funk - Love Can't Turn Around (Sidechains Remix)

i really liked his old songs, but these remixes really seem much more vibrant and colourful. very good

good news is that we have just recieved some new tracks in the buffet libre rewind project. i dont know if you know/remember but rewind is a project that the buffy lib guys have been working on for a while in which a bunch of artists/producers pick their fave oldskoooool songs and remix/cover it.. really good idea yeah?
there have been a few other tracks leaked out in recent times which have all been awesome in a really chilled or funky way but this recent batch seems to have picked up the pace a bit..

Def Leppard - Photograph (Heartache Remix)

Pineapples - Come On Closer (Moulinex Remix)

Dragonette - Sharp Dressed Man (ZZ Top Cover)

Roger Troutman - Do It (Xinobi Remix)

Madonna - Get Into The Groove (Sidechains Remix)

out of these, my favie faves are the dragonette cover of ZZ Top which i reckon they really make their own, and the heartache/def leppard remix which i cant wait to play out next time i play out.. (everyone in sydney and the world come to oxford art factory on the 16th...)
so yea.. good on buffet libre- really really cant wait to hear the rest of the songs and the mix..

it is such a satisfying feeling for me when i find music that is perfect for walking.. walking long distances is always such a punish. and because it is an active activity, dancey beats that are good to walk to are often good to bust out in a dj set..

the other day, blouse got sent a bunch of tracks from Spanish producer Sidechains but because i was so busy i didnt get a proper chance to listen to it til i was walking home that night.. and DAMN was i impressed. or satisfied.. instant walking classics!

its hard to believe, but Sidechains was invented less than a year ago- he decided to ditch a career in advertising as a copyrighter/ jingle creator to become a full time producer. already one of his tracks has been picked up by Pistol (a sub label of EMI)..
his experience making beats for ads makes the production of his tracks sound so damned clean and pro.. his wide range of influences also help to throw a bit of awesome in the mix - he has penned industrial metal bands Nine Inch Nails, Ministry, Prodigy and Faith No More right through to more electronic offerings like Daft Punk, Chemical Brothers, Underworld, Cut Copy, Crookers, Justice and Midnight Juggernauts as influences..

i dont know if im looking in the wrong places, but havent found too many tracks (from up and coming producers) on the blogs as polished, professional or.. complete as Sidechain's..
besides the slick production, there are so many things to gush about with these tracks. big ticks to Sidechains for the range of diverse, multi-layered sounds that he has used. i love that no two songs sound the same. have a listen for yourself but his wide range of musical influences are pretty obvious- as well as shades of 80's hip house and mid 90's trance.. awesome

Sidechains - Dance While You Can

Sidechains - Dr. Funk

Sidechains - Real

Sidechains - Turn Your Body On

Sidechains - Waiting So Long

Waiting So Long is his newest song and it has also been featured on an awesome dj mix by the awesome GRUM (if you don't know him CHECK HIM OUT- he is off the hook.)

keep real
