it is a lovely mix comprised of old school film scores.. and you know how good those old film scores can be......

this is a crunkin' mix by Izza Kizza (Timbaland's new protege) and Nick Catchdubs.. very very enjoyable

good news is that we have just recieved some new tracks in the buffet libre rewind project. i dont know if you know/remember but rewind is a project that the buffy lib guys have been working on for a while in which a bunch of artists/producers pick their fave oldskoooool songs and remix/cover it.. really good idea yeah?
there have been a few other tracks leaked out in recent times which have all been awesome in a really chilled or funky way but this recent batch seems to have picked up the pace a bit..

Def Leppard - Photograph (Heartache Remix)

Pineapples - Come On Closer (Moulinex Remix)

Dragonette - Sharp Dressed Man (ZZ Top Cover)

Roger Troutman - Do It (Xinobi Remix)

Madonna - Get Into The Groove (Sidechains Remix)

out of these, my favie faves are the dragonette cover of ZZ Top which i reckon they really make their own, and the heartache/def leppard remix which i cant wait to play out next time i play out.. (everyone in sydney and the world come to oxford art factory on the 16th...)
so yea.. good on buffet libre- really really cant wait to hear the rest of the songs and the mix..

well well my week of fun is over. it really is easy to forget how fun things can get when you work everyday. riding around on quad bikes, watching aidan getting hit in the groin with a paintball, and shimmying to russ chimes were all legitimate and enjoyable elements to my fun week.

anyway, i chucked a bit of a midnight run last night- left perth at 1am and arrived in sydney at 7am just in time to get to work. planes are shit to sleep on so im f'ing tired.

{tired+work=long day}

something that brightened my day a little bit were some nuggets of nuggety goodness in our mailbox.

Cut Copy - Hearts on Fire (Midnight Juggernauts Remix)

this remix is a lot different to the other juggers mixes (like the dragonette one)- i think it sounds a lot more like their album (a lot more '''''cosmic'''''). i wasnt 100% sure about this the first time i listened to it but im sure it will grow.

you might know buffet libre from their (slightly dodgy) verbena selected mixes where they get djs and etc to select tracks to go on the mix.. well they have a new project where they get heaps of artists to remix their favourite old tracks (which will presumably be mixed together- hopefully their beatmatching skills have improved). These three tracks are some teaser tracks that will be featured on this mix..

Marietta - Destination Unknown (CSK OK Remix)

Men Without Hats - Where Do The Boys Go (Mr Miyagi Maximisation Version)

George Benson - Turn Your Love Around (Database Remix)

i never have been a massive CSK OK fan- i thought their sound was a bit too laptop producer-ish.. but this remix is wicked son.. as are the other tracks.

so... as an afterthought- i checked the mailbox first thing this morn and by the time the arvo had rolled around the goodness was gone.

lesson learnt= ration out goodness whilst at work.

i have had very little to keep me entertained in the super boring last week and a half at my work. i really was proud of myself for having finally gotten over facebook after many addicted months but.. no. give me a few days of nothing to do and i turn into some sort of walking facebook relapse.
so it makes sense then that just as im about to get busy again a whole heap of awesome music just drops into the front of the blouse; AKA our email. hooray ive got to try and get as much enjoyment out of these beats as i can before i get swamped.

fellow blousee and famous member of the infamous Rubicon krew- dCup - has just sent through his remix of the awesome Teenagers in Tokyo track- "Very Vampyr".
Originally this was an uber-punk banger with angsty teen vocals and crunchy rock backbone- but dCup got his hands on it and threw it through his Autobot transformer and it has come out as an uplifting, bag-raiding, everyoneputhandsintheairandsingalong dancefloor jammer. Very schmick.

He also very kindly send through his autumn '08 promo - oh yeaaaaa ive got music coming out of my ears... hmm

dCup - All the Girls Get Down

if you take residence in syd-a-ney come down and see dCup and other Rubicon and Blouse chum Richard Taylor play Ritual at Candy's on sat night.. shall be ritual-tastic.

Also... i remember at some point last year finding a *SUPER-UBER* mix called Verbena Selected by Buffet Libre- with each track being specially selected by some famous dj or producer. i really liked this idea but thought that a few of the djs and producers didnt put as much effort into choosing tracks as i thought they would..

WELL ive just awesomely recieved the brand spanking new Verbena Selected mix entitled....... Verbena Selected 2. ive literally only just got this so havent listened to it all yet but the tracklist looks pretty good.. a few tracks im not the biggest fan of but hey- it is a big.. long.. mix.. after all..

also have just got the heads up on Yakushi from over in Portugal.. his sound reminds me a bit of a nu-ravier Bagraiders or a stripped back, Bloody Beetroots.. hopefully more from him soon.

ah well back to the 'book. please be safe while driving. watch for cyclists
